Today is just a day
One of the guys who works for me keeps calling me George. I wear a name tag. I have my name on my door. I have business cards. He has seen all of these. GEORGE?

Young Man 1: “Where’s the lost and found?”
Me: “What do you need?”
Young Man 1: “I want to turn something in. I found this iPod on the floor.”
Me: “I’ll take it.”
It was bright red, it had 2 gigs of music on it and 250 pictures. I typically hold onto lost items for 24 hours and then pass them onto Security. I was upset that someone lost their very expensive iPod, and I guessed that it was a gift because it was engraved “Hello, Sunshine.” It seemed like it probably held a lot of sentimental value, and my experience in the past tells me that people don’t usually reunite with their items. I often have folks ask me if I’ve seen their phone, flash drive (this is the most popular lost item), sunglasses, sweater. Mostly, people don’t turn stuff in. Young Man 1 never even considered keeping this lost item, which costs about 200 bucks and had some pretty decent music on it.
On a side note, are you aware that The Verve lost the rights and royalties to “Bitter Sweet Symphony” when Keith Richards and Mick Jagger sued them for sampling without permission?
Young Man 2: “Have you found a red iPod?”
Me: “Yeah. Come to my office.”
Young Man 2: “Oh man I never thought I’d find it!”
Me: “… Are you Sunshine?”
Young Man 2: “It’s what my best friend calls me.”
Today’s been a decent day.
